The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), 54 days after the last paper was written.
Announcing the results in Minna, Niger State, NECO Registrar, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, revealed that 1,358,339 candidates sat for the exam, with 818,492 (60.26%) scoring five credits and above, including Mathematics and English. A total of 1,144,496 candidates (84.26%) obtained five credits and above, irrespective of English and Mathematics.
According to Wushishi, 1,367,210 candidates registered for the exam, made up of 685,514 males and 681,696 females, while 1,622 special-needs students also participated.
On malpractice, 3,878 cases were recorded in 2025, representing a 61.58% drop from 10,094 cases in 2024. However, 38 schools across 13 states were flagged for mass cheating, while nine supervisors from Rivers, Niger, FCT, Kano, and Osun States were recommended for blacklisting.
Wushishi further noted that examinations were disrupted in eight schools in Lamorde LGA, Adamawa State, due to communal clashes, affecting 13 subjects and 29 papers. He said discussions are ongoing with the state government to reconduct the exams for affected schools.
